  • Building and Running ColdFusion Web Server from Home
I have been hosting my personal/experimental/demo web sites in an entry level dedicated server for past couple of years. A dedicated server, even if it runs on a Pentium processer with 3 Gig memory, provides excellent freedom compared to shared-hosting. Freedom often not cheap and this bit of freedom have been costing me between $175 to $125 per a month. (more..)

  • Kakapo : ColdFusion Exception Manager App
No matter how intensively we test our applications, majority of errors occur while our applications are live. If you have an exception handler setup in your application, it may let you know there is an error waiting to be fixed, but it provides you with very little information about why and how that error occurred. • Railo vs ColdFusion vs We are the CF Developers
In my previous post “Can ColdFusion Survive Under Microsoft?”, “a CF fan” made a good point about Railo. He said “This is the right time to make Railo more popularise...by telling Railo is nothing other than ColdFusion and is FREE”. “Yes! We should!”, I said to myself. If Railo is strong, we don’t have to be concerned periodically as we CF Developers seems to be doing in-between Olympics. (more..)

  • Can ColdFusion Survive Under Microsoft?
Speculation goes, as they usually do, Microsoft is thinking of buying Adobe outright. We know Adobe is in a bad shape, and may be Adobe like been under Microsoft’s roof too. I care about neither Microsoft nor adobe. But I do care about ColdFusion. Well, actually I do more than care about ColdFusion because ColdFusion is my life. I make my living out of it. I don’t like to see any harm come to that. (more..)

  • UPS CityValidation with ColdFusion
UPS CityValidation is a rather deferent function from UPS Address Validation function. This function take two arguments, City and the State, and provide you with the highest and lowest ZIP Code in that area. Also this can identify misspellings or State/City mix-up and suggest you the correct one. If your City and State is correct, this will return VALIDATION = TRUE and ZIP Code Values. (more..)

  • How to trigger a lazyload (on-demand load) with JQuery
Lazyload or on-demand loading is a nice way to save some bandwidth and  server load by requesting content at the end of the page only when the user scroll down to that area. If you scroll down Amazon product pages, you will notice lot of content starts to load on Ajax calls only when those areas come in to view. This post is not about how to make an Ajax call, but about when to make the call. At the bottom of my page, I have a DIV call “more”. (more..)

  • Conversion failed when converting datetime from character string.
“If we mean to have heroes, statesmen and philosophers, we should have learned women.” Abigail Adams said. She was born in December 22nd, 3 days before Christmas in 1744. I was trying to insert her date of birth in to MSSQL DataTime field, something like insert in to firstlady(dateofbirth) values({d '1744-12-22'})and it gave the error “[Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Conversion failed when converting datetime from character string.”.
